Panda Cam at teh San Diego Zoo!
I spent the majority of the morning starting and restarting my computer in order to install the plug in so I could see the webcams at the Smithsonian National Zoo. No Luck! Never could get it to work. So then I hopped over to the San Diego Zoo and found their webcam working perfectly. So here is the link to the Panda Cam at the San Diego Zoo. Simply awesome. See what the Panda is doing at this very moment.

Avatar Vs. Avatar Vs. Avatar
This year there has been a major competition for the best Avatar. Does it go to the beautiful James Cameron 3D Blockbuster, The M. Night critically blasted (renamed to The Last Airbender), or the lame Nickelodeon cartoon. Surprisingly the answer is definately the amazing cartoon. If you are looking for an epic story that is appropriate for kids and teaches honor and love and friendship, the cartoon is your best bet. Right now, you can get Netflix instant que for 10 bucks a month and watch the entire first two seasons of this brilliant kids cartoon. I am telling you, the adults will love it too. For ten bucks, you can immediately watch like 40 ours of the Avatar cartoon, plus plenty of other cartoons and movies. Avatar the cartoon is the best of the bunch.
Cool Toy of the Day: Bugville Butterfly Farm
This summer, we went to Toys R Us for the usual. Boys would get something Star Wars related, girls would get something Barbie related. (We have 6 kids) But then my wife had a genius idea. Instead of buying 6 little gifts everyone would forget in a week, we would buy one gift for the whole family. I wish I could tell you that we did not have at least one meltdown about not "getting their own" present, but with 6 kids under 9 years old, you are gonna have a meltdown every time you go to Toys R Us. Anyway, the one toy we decided on was the Bugville Butterfly Garden. Seriously, it has been awesome. We had to send off for our baby caterpillar friends and they arrived within a few days. Since that time, the developing critters have been a constant source of enthusiastic conversation. About a week ago, all of the caterpillars had that magic moment where they create their own cocoon. Then yesterday, we had our first butterfly birth. Simply amazing. To my surprise, my wife who usually prefers to crush insects, had a very soft heart when it came to keeping them in captivity. She even said, she preferred to kill bugs quickly, not starve them over time in captivity (even though there are plenty of super easy instructions on how to feed and acre for the butterflies included). So in a surprising and tender moment, the eight of us went outside and let our first butterfly go. It was a great. I look forward to the other four going free soon.
Baby Animal of the Day: Baby Giraffe
These cute little guys grow to be as large as 18 feet tall. Interestingly, giraffes only need about 2 hours of sleep a night, and they are the tallest land animal on the planet. Finally, when a giraffe walks, both of his right legs move together, then both of his left legs walk together. Pretty wild, ehe?

Baby Animals! Gazelle!
The males have long, often curved, horns. Like many other prey species, Tommies (as they are familiarly called) exhibit a distinctive behaviour of stotting (running slowly and jumping high before fleeing) when they are threatened by predators such as lions or cheetahs.Kids for Art :

Fun for Kids Activities : Craft of the Day Valentine's Day Peekaboo Card from family Fun!
- Instructions
-
-
Fold the card stock in half and draw a heart shape with one side along the fold to form a hinge (we used a heart-shaped cookie cutter for a pattern). Cut out the heart, keeping the hinge intact.
-
Measure the distance between the eyes on your photocopy. Use a pencil to mark that distance on the top heart and punch out the eyeholes with a hole punch.
-
Cut the photocopy to fit inside the card and glue or tape it in place, lining up the eyes with the eyeholes. Write "Peekaboo!" on the front of the card, and inside, write "I love you" and any message you like.

Kids for Art : Cool Toy of the Day! Balance Bike!
So my kids have a difficult time riding bikes. Don't know if it is the dad's uncoordinated genes or what. But, this amazing idea looks to solve the problem. Notice the bike has no pedals. It helps them learn to balance on a bike first without the hassle of learning the pedals. It is the first step in a lifetime of biking.
